88-96 cab on a 80s frame

I have seen it done but how much need to be changed in order to mount a 91 cab on a 84 frame?

After a storm took out my crew cab i need a cab but good luck around my area

i have located many rust free later model cabs mostly single and ext but will run a flat bed for the time being.

be alot of work i would think seems like you could find a whole later truck easier and cheaper. i know ive seen 92s and so for like 1500 bucks.

they are made of gold around here... every american type car or truck seem to be made of gold here

i see your in the uk. you could get it to work but it would be a job and a half. be cheaper to repair what you have i think or have a good cab shipped to you from the us.

he must not have seen what you start'd with . I would think you'd just have to modify and reuse the cab mounts from the donner cab.
what happed to the square ? hate hear it's tore up .

well i mean it could work seems like alot of work though. even the wheelbases and steer column and all that would be odd bolt up and then you have the wiring. it could be done anything can im just saying it would be a job im sure. might be easier to get the whole 88 up truck and swap in his engine.

square body aint going anyware, just got a few dents in the roof and sides from a storm we had a few weeks back. its really more becuse of the amount of work i still have left in that cab and everything else so i just want to slap on a diffrent body and get it driverbell again and get parts to restore it to full spec again

Sorry to hear about the truck. Went to look at a '57 shortbed a few months back. Tree fell on the cab and caved it in. Mother nature doing her thing...

Scored a 1991 Ext Cab No rust. Complete missing back window, Radio, misc interior stuff like speaker covers and seats.

Even got the front end with the truck and the remains of the frame.
It has been cut right behind the cab so all the front end stuff is there.

I have talked with a few people who have done this swap.
if you get a new body style before 1992 it will fit the sold square body frame with no mods at all. body mounts and steering colum sould fit

the mounts from a crew cab should be the same to the newer body crew as the front mounts should be the same, I know i would have to put 2 new mounts for the ext cab rear part but that fine.

this is the only realistic way to get this into a driverbel truck for along time because money and body parts are far and few between

you have the fenders and all that too think of. like i said its not going to be bolt on but you gotta do what you gotta do.

My dad has a 1995 Chevy cab that sits on a 1989 Chevy v3500 Tow truck frame! The cab mounts have to modified, but thats all I know for now!

Well the cab arived yesterday removed it from the old chassie and unbolted mine and did some mods for the shifter mines a SM465 with Rod operated clutch and the other truck had a Automatic.

I need to make some mounts for the 2 rear mounts but the first 2 sets of mounts fit perfectly so does the core support.

Only thing that didnt fit was the saddle tanks...

Time to get working on the beast again. need minor stuff on it now
