15x8 5x5 Rallys
Needing some help guys. Looking at picking up Wheel Vintiques 37 15x8 5x5 w/a 4" backspacing for the front and 15x10 w/a 5" backspacing for the rear. I'd like to run spider style lug covers as well. The truck has 5 lug disc conversion from Early Classic on the front and a 5 lug rear end from a 72 on the rear w/drums.
Truck also has a 4/6 drop from ECE. Wanting to know if these wheels will fit my truck, and if I can run spider lug/hub covers. Please halp

Re: 15x8 5x5 Rallys
a lot depends on what size tire that you are planning to run. did you do the rearend swap? if so, did you get the outside measurements to know how much wider the '72 is. have chrome version of ones you are planning to run on my lowered '68 C10.search here for info here, and elsewhere, on how properly measure clearances on your truck and find out tire height/width

Re: 15x8 5x5 Rallys
Yup it does but it doesn't say OE (original equipment) style wheels like these series 42's.

Re: 15x8 5x5 Rallys
With those tire sizes and back spacing you should have plenty of clearance...I have 8" rally's with 275/60/15's front and rear...The rally's I have are 4-1/2" back spacing and rubbed the front fenders in turns and bumps with the 4-1/2" drop up front so I raised it an inch...No more rubbing...I installed a front sway bar as well. Plenty of clearance out back. I used 2-1/2" drop spindles with 2" drop springs up front and the 60's wouldnt clear so reinstalled the factory coils with 1/2 coil cut off...The factory coils are a bit stiffer than the drop coils which is a plus in the turns...IMO

Re: 15x8 5x5 Rallys
I think I'm going to revise this. Now thinking same wheel 7" wide powder coated back. For tires running cooper trendsetter es narrow white walls in 235/75/15. Plus the spider chrome lug covers.

These are Corvette (style) rally wheels: Available on Corvette, Chevelle, Nova, Camaro, Corvair, Impala and probably some others I'm forgetting. Production wheels had bumps in the spider to retain the various center caps. Sizes range from 14x6 to 15x8, depending on application. These are truck wheels, first available in 1975 and through the end of the C/K/R/V product cycle. 15x7 for vans, 15x8 for pickup and utility. K

"Zero offset" would be in the middle of the wheel, by definition. I'll do some measuring when I get home. K

Re: 15x8 5x5 Rallys
Typical wheels are called say 8" wide which is the measurement from bead to bead. However the actual width is 9" which is width from wheel lip to wheel lip. BS is measured from wheel lip to mounting surface.
It would be nice if bs was measured from bead to mounting surface but it's difficult to measure accurately. So an 8" wheel is actually 9" wide minus the bs of 4" leaves 5". Centreline of wheel is 4.5 inches. 5"-4.5" equals 1/2 inch of offset. This link might help. http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp |

I have both truck wheels and Corvette wheels readily available. I can do some measuring (once the power comes back on...). K
