opinions on this blazer

found this on craigslist yesterday. its been eating at me ever since. i haven't called about it at all...but i'm just now starting to search for a blazer from this era so don't know much about prices or anything. figured i'd ask the professionals before i wasted too much time on it. my plans would be to eventually put it on air ride and make it more of a weekend cruiser than a true show car

Just my opinion but If it's not too far you NEED to go see it. Depends on the rust if it's a deal or not.

Is says it was put on a Camaro frame so its not a stock 2 wheel drive. The price isn't too bad if its not rusted and the interior is there. It appears to be in ok shape though. Having a non rusted body and frane to start with makes it worth a lot more to me after doing a ton of rust repairs. Putting it on bags may be a problem with the Camaro frame but then you just buy Camaro parts to do it.

Its amazing how little effort he has gone into describing it. tells you it has a motor, but lets you just guess as to whether it runs, or is even complete.

Usually the less they say the less they want you to know...

that being said, if your looking for a slammed 2wd-converted blazer project it might be for you. I am not a huge fan of the "Layin' on da frame" look but to each their own.

You really got to look at it to fill in the story, as you can only see about 10% of what your getting into by looking at the photos. All I can tell you on the interior is that it might have a red dash and it has a steering wheel. That's a good start i suppose?

How it was put on that frame will be a big issue of if its worth it as well. Hack job or custom from a shop will make a big difference. Either way you slicè it it is sitting on a rolling chassis. If the tub is good you can always find a good stock frame to throw it on and put it back to stock. Check the vin it says c10 but if it is cke starting number it would be a k5 4 wheel drive on that frame. It worth what you are willing to pay. Just look at everything real good that they did and make sure it is safe before anything else you do. If you aren't mechanically inclined take someone who is or have it safety inspected at a shop. Then at least you know what you got.

It looks like he has a few c10's. Are you looking for a Factory 2wd Blazer?

I Agree with others regarding the fab job. It looks like a decent price as long as the floorboards and bed isn't rotted through. Figure on just buying it for the tub not running. You could find a good solid k5 frame later. The frame swap could've been a quick sloppy job. My question is why not use the original frame? If you can get it cheap enough and find a good solid frame then you'll have a good start.

Looking at the Add And thinking About It. If it is just the subframe from a Camaro, the blazer frame is Maybe still There and the two wheel drive camaro front end could be just bolted to the stock frame with custom brackets. The rest of the Camaro was unibody was it not? If so this might not be as bad as I was thinking. If you Look at it get some good pics Underneath and please post here so we can see what was done.

thanks for all the replies guys. there aren't many of any of these blazers around here that i can find(even 4wd). i will try getting ahold of him and seeing what kind of information i can get out of him.

splash, it doesn't have to be a factory 2wd. i'd be changing the whole suspension anyway so a 4wd conversion wouldn't bother me. this one is just the closest to me that i can find

Looks like the front clip has been cut through the fenders maybe to tilt the front end? It also has 5 lug rear end, I'm pretty sure 70 2wd blazers would have had 6 lugs.

There was one I found down in Iowa that's a little high. Needs allot of work. He pulled it off of Craig's list.

Two wheel drives were 5 lug. 1/2 ton 4x blazers 6 lug and one ton and 3/4 8 lugs. They have the same wheel pattern as the cars five lug. Just a little bigger spacing.

Good call on the tilt hood. On my phone I didn't even notice the cut in the fenders til you mentioned it.

Not trying to be argumentetive about lug patterns but I found the link below. http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs..._Full-Size.pdf I also looked at a couple of factory 70 2wd 1/2 ton that were six lug. It seems to have been a GM oddity and was changed to 5 lug (5x5) in 71. There are also a couple of threads about it on the site.

I never knew that. Thanks for the info. I thought my buddys 68c10 was 5 lug too. All original gmc with the 305 v6. This guy could have possibly swapped in the camero rear end to keep the lug pattern the same. It looks more and more he used the whole chassis from the car. That's probably why the wheels tuck so far under the wheel wells front and rear.

It seems a bit..off. I would at least go look at it, if you have the skills could be a cool build, it is different already, at least look then you won't have to wonder.
