Another newbie - 66'
Hey guys.... Figured I'd introduce myself.....
Just bought a 66 fleetside SWB..... I'll let the pictures speak for itself as the condition is.... well... OK (I thought very good for a wisconsin truck... and more importantly a wonderful box (the only part they don't fully repop for the first gen)... Will need front fender patches, door skins, driver door bottom, both rockers, both cab corners. Otherwise for a wisco truck... the box is MINT... (few dings... but cancer free) My first chevy... a recent convert... bled blue oval and recently just bought a 2012 sierra.... fell in love with the LSx engines and first gen C10's. Thus here I am. (My first project after graduating college was a 1947 Ford 1.5 ton dually on a GM P30 chassis with a cummins turbo diesel, 10 speed fuller, and my own designed 4 link all on air bags.... this is my 2nd project... (still kind of a green horn on everything... and new to GM's... let alone LS motors.) Truck will be done in phases in hopes of keeping it on the road every summer to enjoy and winter for improvements.... Phase 1: 5.3 LM7 & 4L60e (05-07) install w/ Boyd Fuel Cell and Stealth 340 pump DT headers, probably CPP mounts and crossmember Phase 2: TSP cam, springs, pushrods Power steering Power disc brakes front rear Front CPP Tubular Phase 3: Rear CPP trailing arm upgrade and drop member Drop in all 4 corners Full Tear down of chassis, powdercoat, place "patina'd" body back on Phase 4: Bodywork, Paint 4 Summers of enjoyment, 4 winters of hobby... Empty wallet had by all. None the less.... PICTURES! Oh.. and HI! |

Re: Another newbie - 66'
Looks like a great place to begin! I'm partial to the 66' for no other reason than I have one myself . Is it just me, or is that shifter placed really far back? I guess I'm just used to my automatic wratcheting shifter that has super long play.

Welcome to the forum
I agree, that does look like a nice truck. Is the original white hood damaged?
