New guy from Vancouver, 4 Chevys and a Bimmer
Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while, figured I should introduce myself. I'm Matt, and I think I'm addicted to cars.
I initially signed up for this site after buying this, a 1962 Chevy C10 long box. Pulled it out of a field and had it running with some fresh gas and a jump start. The plans were for it to be an air ride/hot rod project, but plans changed when I stumbled across this, a 1963 GMC C10 big window, shortened to a short box. Its titled as a one owner truck, still has the original radio even. So now, it will be receiving this good stuff: I also have this bucket, the $500 nine-passenger roadster, AKA The Convertiburb: I also have the gray 3/4 ton Burb that's towing the trailer pictured above, which I don't really have any current pictures of. Then there's my first love: 1995 BMW 540i 6-speed: I look forward to chatting with you guys and learning more about these old trucks than I already have! Re: New guy from Vancouver, 4 Chevys and a Bimmer
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys!
Quote:
So, I hooked up a trailer and showed up with cash. According to the PO, he bought the truck from the vice president of Deviants Car Club and, if I understood correctly, some of those guys are members here, so you may have seen it before. Quote:
The Convertiburb started as an old Suburban rotting away on the side of my buddy's dad's house. I wanted something old and fun to work on, so I went over with $500, a battery, and some fresh gas. It was idling fine in seconds, so I drove it to work to clean it up a bit. Post-cleanup, I pulled the old-man running boards off. About that time, I realized that this plain, no-magic Burb was just too rusted out to be something worth dumping a ton of money into. So, how do you have the most fun possible with a $500 Suburban? My best answer was to invite some friends over with booze and apply saws to anything that bores you (specifically, the roof and suspension). Found some old wheels for $80, applied a little German-flavor to the front... ...and ended up with a pretty awesome way to get around during the summer time. |
