bagging with ram steelies

hey guys. i can come by some 20" ram steelies CHEAPPPP! and i know theyre 5.5 and our c10s are 5 and guys run the adapter plates..

my question is. anyone run the adapter plates and lay frame? even if i get the thinnest plates and go porterbuilt or thorbeck on the crossmember, after all the narrowing is done and the adapter plates kick the tire back out an inch or so.

anyone done this?

See if you can find out the back spacing of the rims and how thick the spacers are,And last i heard thorbeck wasn't making their raised crossmembers the guy making them quit and left with the blue prints.

Is it possible to re-drill the hubs for the 5x5.5?

cpp drop spindles pull tires in I think an inch overall but are only 2" drop but would fix your issue and if u using drop member should not b a problem

actually were going MII front end which will give us 60" track so with 5x5.5 adapters @ 1" wide per side. depending on the offset of the rims. the tires should be an inch or 2 narrower from stock letting us tuck even better and maybe get a little turning while laid out....only time will tell haha

Offset is 19mm makes backspace about 5.25. I did find some 20 mm adapters (about 3/4") was the thinnest ones I could find at time.

Sometimes "cheap" is not worth the price. If it were me I would use the money your going to spend to get these cheap wheels to fit on a set of wheels that actually fit.

well these are the wheels i need to get the look i want. and now that i think about it i would probably need to use wheel adapters or something to take up a couple inches being that the MII track width is only 60"...stock 77 c10 is 65" and some change. so after all is done and said it would probably be real close to stock width. unless you know of a place that has 20" black steelies that arent $200+ a piece?

If you know what your getting in to, then go with your plan. I wanted to point out that the cost of quality billet adapters was going to put you close to the cost of a direct fit wheel. If your after a certain look, go with it.
