Laying cab on rear window
I've just completed all of the metal work (inner and outer rockers, cab corners, partial floors) on my 64 C10 project. I want to clean-up the underneath of the cab and give it a fresh coat of paint before I put it on the dolly that I plan on building to move it around my garage. My question is; can I safely lay the cab on the back window so I have easy access to the underneath? I plan on laying it on a sheet of plywood with a 2-inch foam pad between the cab and the plywood. The cab is not painted, so I'm not concerned about scratching the paint but I dont want to "tweak" or "bend" anything by placing it in this position.
Thanks in advance...............Dan |

Re: Laying cab on rear window
Is it small or large window? I would pull the glass. But a couple 2x4 outside the glass would work. The slightest tweak could pop the glass. Tilt cab back just enough not to touch glass.

Re: Laying cab on rear window
The cab is fully stripped, no glass, no doors, no seat.........just the bare shell. I'm assuming that 4 guys should be able to lift it from the frame and gently lay it on it's back? I just down want the weight of the cab to bend or twist anything when it is laying in this position.

Re: Laying cab on rear window
It should be fine. 4 Minnesota boys should be able to handle that.

I've got mine on its back right now doing just that. Stripped, epoxy primer, and Raptor bed liner.
