Need info on changing pedals
Will be picking up a 83 c10 roller project truck this weekend. Currently it is setup for a manual trans, but thinking about converting it to an auto. Would like to know what is involved with changing the pedals from a clutch/brake pedal assembly to an auto brake pedal assembly.
Any info is appreciated. Thanks Scott

Re: Need info on changing pedals
i just went from a auto to a manual and the only difference really is that in an automatic the brake pedal pad is bigger about 1 and a half times larger, and the pivot screw is shorter. the mount is a little different as well

Re: Need info on changing pedals
The brake/clutch pivot will swap with an automatic. At least a 77 automatic pedal and pivot did into my 73.

IIRC and we are talking about ten to twelve years here on my 76 they were bolt off bolt in.. drop the column and its easy enough

Re: Need info on changing pedals
you can just swap the pedal itself, or the entire assembly, both are completely bolt in. If you swap assemblies you will need to pull the column, otherwise just drop it for easier access. If you don't mind a smaller brake pedal, you can just unbolt the clutch pedal, and leave the brake pedal as is. Column will need to be swapped if your not using aftermarket floor shifter, it will be pretty much bolt in as well, as long as it is from the year, other years may require minor mods.
If you swap the assemblies, there are 4 bolts on the firewall (the ones that hold the brake booster on) and when you remove the column that takes care of the 2 nuts under the dash, other then that, just unhook the linkage, and unplug the brake pedal switch/neutral safety switch. -Sam

Re: Need info on changing pedals
Thanks guys, appreciate the info. I just want to swap the pedals, column had already been swapped for an auto column.
So whats involved with just swapping the pedals? Is there a center bolt type arrangement? Scott
