eBay cheepie swap headers
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-77-Chev...7afe3d&vxp=mtr
These things. Are they okay, crap, or somewhere in between? I don't expect complete wonderfulness for $200 but if they are usable I might jump on a set. Found a few threads under "ebay headers" but not much specific to the LS swap headers as listed above. |

Re: eBay cheepie swap headers
The outside primary looks like it would hit the engine perch depending how far for/aft you put the motor.

Really like the stainless even though it's probably 409 and will rust after a few heat cycles. Eh. Hooker manifolds are only $100 more. Hose em down with VHT and bake em in the oven just like the olden days. |

Re: eBay cheepie swap headers
I bought those same headers off eBay, but from a different seller. As far as quality, I'm impressed for $200. All of the welds are solid, the stainless is nice, and mine have roughly 2K miles on them so far and no rust. They did turn blueish yellow up close to the heads, buts that's all.
For my motor mount setup, I used motor mount plates that are 3" forwards, but moved the v8 engine stands back (2.5") to the 6cyl. frame holes. I did this to allow the a/c compressor to bolt up the the factory 5.3 bracket. The only clearance issues I had we on the right side header. At the rear of the right header were the 3-bolt flange is I had to grind a little off of this little rectangle piece that sticks out about 1/2" from the block (probably part of the casting process, but not critical to the block). And then I clearance about 1/8" off of the right motor mount stand to give me more clearance, even though they weren't touching. The left side header fit beautifully. For the price I was very pleased. Here's a pic of them installed, but it doesn't show the back of them.

Re: eBay cheepie swap headers
Here's a picture of where I had to clearance the block, the circled spot. Not a huge deal to me since I wanted headers that were closer to the block rather than the frame.

Re: eBay cheepie swap headers
I have a set similar to these for an LT-1 and love them. Nice heavy gauge SS and after about 10k miles still look nice. There in my 87 IROC and fit great.
