59 Apache - engine & trans question
I have a 59 Apache...my grandfather bought it new, I'm the second owner. It was used on a farm for years so its not in the best condition.
Engine is weak, I have a 350 that was built (mild) for another project. I plan on putting it in this spring, however I'm hung up on the transmission to use. Normally I'd swap in an auto and call it good. But i'm nostalgic about the three on the column shift and watching grandad driving the truck... What I want to do is leave the transmission and shifter in place. What adapter or bell housing should I use?

Re: 59 Apache - engine & trans question
Is the original engine a v8 or six? If v8 the 350 will swap directly to the original bellhousing with mounts. If not you will need to find one, transmission will fit either six or v8 bellhousing. They are relatively easy to find, alot guys, even with the v8s, swap them out for later model auto transmissions.

Re: 59 Apache - engine & trans question
Flywheel, starter, front motor mounts and front accessories. Plus the V8 bellhousing.
55 to 59 trucks came factory with the V8, everything else will fit
