brake shoe position on dana44
I read some thread about the ft brake shoes on a 4x4 60-62? dana 44 that the smaller shoe is opposite that of the rear, or 2wd shoes. my 4x4 manual has no info. Jason m--you came up with info about adjusting the front shoes, any info about this?

Re: brake shoe position on dana44
No idea. The history & parts for these Dana 44-5F's are far and few in between.
Well, I just started on doing a complete rebuild for my little 235 - 6Cyl. Frame/Diff's/Axles/Brakes/T221/SM420 all completed, finally. So, hopefully I'll get to do some metal work soon. No rockers for me, but I'll get to repair all four corners (fenders).

Re: brake shoe position on dana44
Not saying that. Just that there's not much info on the Duo-Servo brakes / Dana44-5F's for the 60-62's and why they changed design in 63. Other than in 63 they redesigned the whole structure with lots of includes.

Re: brake shoe position on dana44
Mitch--on one of the threads special-k or jkern talked about shoe placement. maybe they will chime in. the 60-62 setup is like 47-64 jeep. just bought new adjusters and springs from a jeep parts place. haven't received them yet, but they look to be the same.

Re: brake shoe position on dana44
61K10, I will e-mail you the entire brake section out of my manual. I only sent the portion that had to do with the adjustment before.

No problem! Should be in your inbox.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I can pull up the manual at home, or at work. My knowledge is based solely on the books though. Learning as I go! |
