not sure what to do with these

hi im new to the site I have a 86 c10 and a 79 blazer 2wd.

the c10 need alot of work like: paint, interior, wheels and tires, ect.

the blazer is ready to drive it only needs a fuel pump, passenger side quarter panel, driver side fender, paint, and tranny.

i wanna lower both.

I wanna make the c10 like "CoggedBelt75" c10.
And i wanna make the blazer like :seth is usdm" blazer that he has for sale.

Re: not sure what to do with these

Welcome to the site!

First thing I would do is pull them out of the woods and clean them up. What does the c10 need to run?

How long have they been sitting? If its been for a long time I would pick one to get running (which ever is easiest) and replace fuel lines, do a full tune up, maybe drop the tank and clean it out if it needs it and whatever else it needs to get running.

Get one driving so you can enjoy that one while the other goes under the knife.

I cant really tell but you might be able to buff the c10 after you wash it real good a few times and should get good results.

The c10 needs a head gasket. they been sitting for a couple of years. but they will turn over. i blew the tranny in the blazer but i have a th400 or 700r4 going in it. which one is the best to fix right now? It's kind hard to get some money to fix one of them right now because i'm in high school.

Re: not sure what to do with these

You will have to make sure the transmissions are the same length otherwise there will have to be drive shaft modifications.

I would start with pulling the heads off of the c10. Make sure you take LOTS of pictures along the way of how everything is connected so you can have reference points when you put it back together. If the motor isnt too nasty in the c10 when you pull it off get a gasket kit from advance and put it back together.

How much gas is in the truck?

Re: not sure what to do with these

Just worry about running driving. Body will come later as will lowering. Blazer seems easier to get going i'd start there. C10 will need almost everything engine related so i'd use what i could off it n chop it first.

Re: not sure what to do with these

I would go blazer so you have a back seat for friends.I would semi restore it with light upgrades.A sleeper will take more money then you think once you add it all up.Lets just say a 400hp small block the stock trans and rear end would be time bombs if you push it hard. You could blow 10k easy on a drivetrain.

Re: not sure what to do with these

I would first make it functional and safe. Then as you get money down the road, you can update components as you want.
