Squares, I see em everyday

I see a lot of these old 73-87 trucks around my area. Don't see that many 70's-early 80's Fords or Dodges. Definitely the most popular trucks of all time.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

If they called them silverados since the 50s gm could literally stop making trucks for 8 yrs and still be able to say the most popular most sold and dependable pickup made in the world.

In other news. Ford has designed heated tailgates to keep your hands warm when you push your f150 home.

I enjoy seeing other c10 on the road. I always give a nod or thumbs up, kinda like motorcyclists do.

Yea me too. I also wonder what is going on with their rig that's either similar to mine or a whole different set of issues. Like mine is the tranny seaping into the t-case and maybe the other guy that just passed going the other direction is his gas gauge needs fixed or instrument light only work briefly when he hits a pot hole. Stuff like that starts going through my head when I see another square. At any rate, really no matter how good or bad the other guys rig looks as compared to mine, I know we are all in a similar boat with these cool older rigs we all love to love and sometimes love to hate.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

If they counted all the GMC trucks along with the Chevy trucks we would be way ahead of Ford in truck sales. Ford always say they sell more Ford 150's than Chevy but they do not figure in the GM GMC sales + the Chevy sales. (as far as I know) Correct me if I am wrong.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

We load alot of pick up trucks at my job. Today, I saw a swb 81-82 white Silverado very similar to my 85. I wanted to talk to the guy, but he drove away before I could catch him. Hope he comes back. Its kinda amazing how many of these cool old trucks are still running on the roads.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

I counted 16 square bodies today. 13 trucks, 1 Blazer, 1 Jimmy and 1 Burb. Only 2 were 73-80 and the rest 81+. 3 Fords older than 1990 and zero Dodges.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

Chevrolet has made the sexiest looking CARS and TRUCKS for years.... Take a look at the TRI - FIVES, CHEVELLES, NOVAS etc... THE APACHE TRUCKS, C10, EL CAMINOS, even the S10s .... FORD made good work trucks and did in fact look good back in the 70s-80s, but look good and SEXY are two different things.... DODGE trucks were UGLY for YEARS, but have recently changed.... But MOPAR, was the KING OF MUSCLE CARS for many many years, LOVE THE B-BODYS ( ROAD RUNNERS, CHARGERS, CHALLENGERS, BARRACUDAS ) those were sweet looking.... Never been much of a fan for the Mustang except he 68 fast back. Mustangs have never really been built for the BIG DUDE.... I'm 6'3 / 275, I don't fit in them very well

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

ford had some great cars besides that galaxie 500 fast back the torina cobra just to name a few. i think gm was still the king of muscle the ls6 chevelle hurst olds ram air 4 pontiac and the king the buick gs stage 1. not to mention gm invented it with the gto.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

But the MOPAR 426 Hemi, 383 MAGNUM, 440 SIX PACKS, etc.... PURE MUSCLE and the sweetness go the Road Runners, GTX, Coronet R/T, Chargers, Challengers, Cudas, Darts etc....

HOWEVER, nobody has EVER competed with the stylings of CHEVROLET TRUCKS. Fords were ok , Dodges were always ugly untill recent years...

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

mopar had to put huge ridiculous things on there cars and paint them bright colors to compete with gm. mopar is popular cause of tv imo and could be smoked by a buick.

I do see several Square's but few short bed or 1 ton's around here.
I do see the only nice look'n mid '80's Dodge I have ever seen several time's a week.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

I went to the store today for superbowl supplies and when I came out a guy pulled up in a 1974 Super Cheyenne long bed that was 2 tone white on orange. Very cool. Should have took pic. However, there is a cool looking late 70's 4wd long bed Dodge running around town that I have seen a few times.

Re: Squares, I see em everyday

All you guys that STILL think the 426 hemi was all that need to talk to some of us that were around back in the day.
IF you could get the SOB to keep a tune, you MIGHT be able to make two 14-second passes back-to-back. We always raced best 2 out of 3 and I never saw a hemi run as fast on second or third runs as the first. Ever.
They're great for forced induction - still are - but N/A with pump gas compression, they're a POS.
The 440 was a different story.
And other than the '70 Cuda, all of MOPAR's muscle cars were ugly as a man's ass. Square, boxy and slow.
GM was and still is king of the strip. First with smallblocks, then big blocks (STILL king of the strip in big-inch form) and now the LS family. Ford and Dodge ain't got a thing that'll hang with 'em.
