350 exhaust

Hey everyone, I want to know what would be a good muffler to run on my 350, it has headers on it from summit, my original plan was to just run straight pipes, I like the loud noise but I'm not a 100% on that. I want it to be throaty when I'm going down the road and noticeable when I'm revibg at a stop light. What diameter pipe should I go with? And if I run a muffler what would be a good choice? When I had my 250 I ran a single and a glass pack which sounded awesome. Would it sound as good with a 350 with duals? These are just ideas I'm open to any ideas. Thanks guys

Re: 350 exhaust

I bought one of those 3" cherry bomb kits from summit. Ran true dual straight pipes off of flow tech headers for about a month before throwing on some cherry bomb turbo mufflers. Everything seems to be holding up ok, and you can't beat the price! Sounds really throaty too!

Re: 350 exhaust

See I was originally planning on doing true duals with 3inch and either straight pipes or glass packs, but my friend ran his 3inch with glass packs and said it was almost too quiet. I want to be noticeable and loud but nothing ridiculous. Just enough for everyone to know I'm coming there way haha

Re: 350 exhaust

2.5 inch with Summit brand chambered mufflers sound best to me on a 350. The chambered mufflers are like Flowmasters only cheaper in Summit branding.

Re: 350 exhaust

I had full length headers with straight pipes out back at 45's real quiet but droned. Now i'll have full length with 2.5 all back at 45's with 4" 36" long tips. Can't freaking wait!!!!!

Re: 350 exhaust

So this is what I'm thinking, I have my full length headers already, ill run true dual exhaust all the way back with some thrush glass packs, only thing I can't decide on is 2 1/2 or 3inch, will it make much difference between the two?

Re: 350 exhaust

Yes. Te smaller the pipe more back pressure therefor more low end grunt... Bigger pipe means more flowing so the higher rpm can breathe where it needs it. 2.5 or 2.25 pipe is best of both worlds. I'll have 2.5 as mine is a dd so it sees both.

Re: 350 exhaust

In my opinion you can't beat the sound you get from three inch. No matter the muffler you get a real deep tone, and it doesn't get that raspy sound in higher rpms. Definitely worth a little extra cash.

Re: 350 exhaust

Anyone put an "X" pipe on a 4x4? I bought a kit from Summit and I am still working out if it will actually fit. Looks like the x will end up just before the rear axle and the mufflers will end behind the axle.

BTW... I think the 2.5 inch exhaust work very well on a 350.

Re: 350 exhaust

2.5" out before the rear wheels with short glass packs. less pressure, more loud.
