Fuel Tank Fun
Well,
One thing I will say is that if your going to be cheap on repairing your truck, my advice is the Fuel Tank "AINT" the place to start. I have owned this truck for a while and smelled gas in the cab every now and then. Never saw fuel so I thought it was the gas cap. Couple of weeks ago, raw fuel in the cab....not good....So after doing some research I got a spectrum tank from rock auto shipped to the house in less than three days for less than $200. Cant beat that. Pulled the old tank out and there it was...Some type of JB weld looking stuff that didn't last as advertised...Some peoples children..... Smitty

Re: Fuel Tank Fun
Ouch. Good find though. This should start the whole in cab vs move the tank argument all over. Lol.

Re: Fuel Tank Fun
I plan to do the same. My ride might actually make everyone happy, I'll do both. I would like a new in-cab tank as mine is old and still good but the beach is on the bottom of it.
I would also like to install a rear tank. I would like the biggest one I can find that will install with a Class IV hitch. Any ideas?

Re: Fuel Tank Fun
73+ burb tank is 41-42 gallon. The large blazer tank is 31 gallons. I installed the 31 gallon tank in my truck and it fits around the hitch just fine. I snagged the frame brackets from a donor truck and reworked them to fit. Worked like a charm. I did reinstall the tank backwards to keep the filler on the drivers side. This also gives some clearence for pulling the diff cover. Using the factory brackets you can also use the factory tank skidplate. The suburban tank is 1-3" bigger in all dimensions.
