Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
Recently I purchased a set of Cragar SS wheels and after some severe trepidation, I am confused on which set of wheels I want on my truck. I am currently running Rallys but grew up in the 70’s and my first car had Cragar SS’s on it and I loved the look. But I am older now and love the rally look. Below is a picture of my truck with each, rally’s with black walls and Cragar’s with raised white letters (BF Goodrich T/A Radials). I welcome your comments – which do you prefer?

The Cragars look tiny at stock height. They would look cool if the truck was lowered, but at stock height the rallys look a lot better.

Tough call. They're both timeless!
I do agree that the Cragars would look better with a lowered stance, like my neighbor's truck.

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
I went thru the wheel debate myself and I will tell you what I did and why , I also grew up in the 70's and growing up I can tell you their was 3 wheel's and that's it you can't argue it is a fact ! #1 you had cragar SS's #2 you had keystone klassic's and #3 you had torque thrust's ! That was it ! Now a couple year's ago I decided to put a set of wheel's on my 67 camaro and I considered those 3 and I decided to go with the torque thrust's AND WHEN I SAY TORQUE THRUST I MEAN THE GREY CENTER UNPOLISHED WHEEL'S I went with those because they will last ! And even in years if the grey center fades you can repaint the grey center , as far as the look the cragar SS's look better hands down but they rust easily , between rally wheel's or cragars it cragars !

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
Rally Wheels! The SS's look fine on a car, out of place on a truck, I don't know why, but from a designer standpoint, they don't fit the character of the truck. The 69-72 front ends would compliment the "muscle car" look of those wheels marginally better, but the 67-68 has a much more mellow, classic refined look that begs for less muscle and more style, just my opinion though.

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
OK, first I have the same dilemma, for the same reasons......Cragars are old school so that is my answer and rallies never came stock on these trucks. I have rallies and wil be looking for cragars soon and you can get them in larger diameters if they look small to you CRAGARS

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
On your truck i'd vote for the rallys. I'm having the same debate on what to put on my 67. I agree that Cragars look better on trucks with a lower stance.

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
Being in my early 30's I may be in the minority on this, but you can not beat the look and quality of a factory rally wheel!

Personally I feel that there should be a federal law that any vehicle made before 1975 should have cragars on it.

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
Rallies remind me of a grandpas truck. The Cragers give a little more flash. Why not run one set for awhile then change back?

If I had 5 lugs I'd go with the Cragar SS.

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
I will vote for the rally look! (paint them to match the truck?) That way you can sell me the S/S wheels for my 67 Stepper!

Re: Rallys vs Cragar SS - lets hear from you!
I like both but I'd give the edge to the rally wheels.
Or you could put rallys on one side and Cragars on the other and see how long it takes someone to notice. |
