I want to lift my 66 2wd. Any suggestions?

I am looking for any info. I would rather lift my 66 than lower it. It is a 66 lwb fleet .

For street or off road use? It will make a difference how you need it to react at the new height - articulation vs stability etc.

They make body lifts so you can lift the body off the frame and put taller tires on...or you could put taller coils on as well...and if your truck came with leaf springs then taller leaf would work. If that is a 3/4 ton...then 31 inch 16's would lift it a bit as well as change the gear ratio.

It depends on the lift you are looking for. CPP has "lift springs" for the front. Not sure about the rear. I used 2" lift springs on the front of my 68 dually to level it out. Blocks, coil spring spacers. All options. Pop in the new springs , have it realigned and you are done.

I wish there was enough demand for a knuckle with an offset (lower) spindle shift and caliper mount so that 2wds could lift a couple inches without suffering poor suspension geometry.
I suppose they could be fabricated.

Fab Tech use to have them. I had a '76 2wd I was going to lift but sold it for 4wd and the Guy dropped it to ground. I have not seen that kit in a while but couldn't you run the later ones like 88-99 with balljoints?

I will have to see what I can rig up ... This is my first Old Truck that I get to fix up so I am running into this a little blind. Hence the reason I joined. There is a ton of knowledge and info here.

I seem to remember you can use the 88-99 lifted knuckle if you use a late 60s one ton lower control arm and ball joint, or something like that.

Not sure if they make them for GM but there are producing ball joint spacers for toyotas, used to be the hot deal in the sixties to get the front end up on coil sprung cars....

The coil supports the lower control arm, so while the upper spacer will help upper control arm geometry it won't produce any lift.

Maybe there is also a way to drop the whole front cross member relative to the frame?

the spindles are for an 88-98 chevy c1500. You use the 88-98 upper ball joints(direct bolt in to 70 upper a-arm), 88-98 lower balljoints(need to find 67-68 3/4 ton lower arm and neww balljoint will press in) 88-98 inner and outer tie rods(the 70 center link needs to be reemed out to fit the new tie rods). For the brakes I used 88-98 6-lug rotors to match the rear of my 70, and 88-98 calipers. I havn't delt with the brake lines yet, shouldn't be that difficult though. My tie rod angle is close to stock so hopefully I wont have any bumpsteer issues. With the fiberglass fenders I am using it cleers 35's with no clearance issues. I'll try to post pics(have never done it before maybe someone can walk me through it as I am not very computer savy).

Dino's truck used Fabtech spindle and lift arms, neither of which are made anymore.

Rough Country makes a lift spindle for the 88-98 body style @wd trucks.

Dino's truck had the simplest way to lift the rear of a coil spring truck....

Thanks for posting that link Karl, I had not seen that thread. I agree that using the RC parts would be easier than trying to find the Fabtech parts.
