Couple Newbie Questions?
New guy here from Texas. Been in the beginning stages of a search for a 72 c10 truck to drive and slowly restore as I can afford it.
Been lurking around on the forums but wanted to go ahead and get a silly question out of the way. I really like the super Cheyenne model in the 72, my question is when looking for a truck to restore do I need to find that exact trim model or can I restore any c10 to that look. thanks Last edited by 70cst; 02-13-2014 at 08:26 PM. |

You can always add the trim. It always helps the value if it's an original Super Cheyenne, but don't worry about that. Just make your truck look the way you want.
If I could have given myself some advice when I was looking for a truck I would say.... avoid a primered truck if possible, you never know what lurks underneath. And, if you see a little rust there is probably a lot more. Lift up the carpet and check the floorboard, also crawl underneath with a flashlight to look for rot. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

There are a lot of opinion's on here about trucks, but it really just boils down to what you want out of it. If it's for resale then buy the best you can find for a good price. If your buying it to drive it and keep it then do as most have said. Build the way you want it and don't worry about what others think.

Yeah, not looking for anything to fix and resale. Just something I can drive and fix up as I go along and hopefully have something nice to let my son drive some day. Appreciate all the welcomes.

Welcome to the fun.
If you are going to keep the truck then don't worry about original trim level. restore it how YOU want it. These trucks really don't have a rabid market like Camaros and Vettes. In the end, these are trucks and most will still be used as trucks and any future buyer is more interested in utility rather than rarity or authenticity and correctness. For the most part a "HIGH OPTIONED" original SPID is more about bragging rights than actual value.
