Re: 1968 gmc hazards dont work with headlights on
I would check all the battery to frame grounds, and add some if necessary.

Do the brake and rear turns work when the headlights are on? They use the same filaments as the hazards.

Re: Hazards don't work with headlights on
Try a different flasher. The voltage drop may be enough to cause it not to flash.

Do you have trailer wiring? If so, I suspect thats your problem. WES

Do you have ground straps from battery to engine, back of engine to cab, engine to frame, frame to core support, frame to bottom of cab, frame to bed? All ground connections to bare metal? Is the small black ground wire still clipped onto the pinch weld behind the instrument cluster? (It should be on the bottom right hand side) Couple of other things you might check is the bulb socket contacts. I had one that was rotated in the housing once and the socket contacts were shorting out on the base of the bulb. Also, unplug both headlights, turn on the headlight switch and try the turn signals and hazards again to see what happens. Report back. LockDoc.

Re: Hazards don't work with headlights on
Ok I put a ground from bed to frame I didn't have one there because bed was bolted directly to frame metal on metal contact. I unplugged the headlamps and same problem hazards or driver turnsignals not working with head lights on

Re: Hazards don't work with headlights on
Corroded headlight switch? It might have power out issues when it's in the headlight on position.

I had a similar problem, changing the turn signal switch on the column cured it.

I'm out of ideas. I'm still thinking it is ground or connection related though. What do you think of having the thread moved to the electrical forum to see if anyone there can come up with a solution? LockDoc
