69 vacuum operating heat control valve with A/C - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hello! I have a 69 c10 and I'm looking to get everything back to original as possible. The truck has factory A/C, and I need to install the original 69 vacuum operated control Valve. For 69 this doesn't screw to the fender like the later one. Can someone post pics on where the best place to put it is? Just doesn't seem to lay in there comfortably with the right angle! Also which end goes where. Thanks !

I think it will be hard to get the hose to lay right without the valve screwed to the inner fender. And welcome to the forum.

Thanks and thanks for the pic. The valve in your pic is the later model, actually works just the opposite of the 69. (I have both actually bought the one with the bracket first and realized it is the wrong one) the 69 is like a 90* angle, and the hose doesn't lay well. Thanks again and if someone has a pic of the 69, please post!

First of all... welcome to the forum!!!

Below is the best I can do for a picture. What it shows is exactly as my 69 came from the factory. Sorry I don't have a better picture. The 5/8" hose from the intake passes over the rear of the compressor to the short stub out the side of the valve. Another length of hose runs from the valve to the heater core. Yes, the valve does sort of just lie there, but there should be a clamp/clip as shown only a couple inches toward the heater core from the valve that secures both heater hoses to the inner fender. Both the valve and clip are partially hidden. Here is where I got my new clip in case you don't have one http://www.classicindustries.com/search/?q=3770259

Your local Oreilly's should have one, or be able to get you one.

Heater control valve, Murray part #76404. Around $33.99.

Once again, thanks for the welcome! That is the valve, and your pic really helps! My truck does have the hose bracket, and when I'm trying to lay it all out, it just did not seem correct. I thought about using the later style valve as the hose would be lined up better however when vacuum is applied, it closes and the 69 opens. A little at a time, I really like this truck, and thanks again for all the help!,
