high hump or low hump - tremec TKO
i have an 86 cab 2wd with the low hump in the floor , i am restoring the truck and am going to run an auto for a bit but i want to upgrade it to a TKO some day in the near future. i have a high hump thats been cut out of a 4wd and i have heard you need the high hump for a standard trans. is this the case for the tremec ? or just with the farmer 4 gear? i already have the carpet (brand new) for the high hump floor as well but if i have to run the low hump for the tremec ill just buy another carpet. anyone ?

Look up the measurements of both trans and compare the auto that you know fits to the tkos.

Re: high hump or low hump - tremec TKO
If you've got a high hump for it, I would install it. I put a t56 in my truck with a 2wd low hump floor and I had to cut up the tunnel some. Would have had a ton of space with a high hump. I think the front part of the t56 and tko transmissions are roughly the same dimensions so you'll probably be in the same boat. If you want a manual trans that will fit under the low hump, I had a m21 muncie 4 speed in there before the t56 and it fit with room to spare under the low hump.

Re: high hump or low hump - tremec TKO
I don't mean to high jack this thread but I was wondering.. I have a 1986 chevy stepper and I was wanting to get a floor mat for it .. What's the diffrence between a high hump and low hump? I need to make sure befor I place my order.. Is high hump stick shift and low hump manual?

High hump was 2wd stick shift or 4wd , low hump is usually an auto or 3 in the tree

Re: high hump or low hump - tremec TKO
I installed a T56 and a 2.5 inch frame Z and it fit under the high hump barely. The shifter actually sticks through the hole about a half inch. FYI
