Power steering backet lost?

Hey all,

A few weeks back I sandblasted and painted my frame. I think during the transport over a bracket fell off the frame. It was caked on there with 50 years of gunk, and must not have come off when I unbolted the power steering box. The outline on the frame was in a U-shape, but honestly I'm not sure exactly what it looked like.

Is this a stock bracket, or something added later meaning my truck wasn't originally equipped with power steering? Anyone have a link where I can pick up another?

Thanks all!

Was originally a 305 V6 I believe, but now is a 350. However the bracket I'm talking about is the steering gear box bracket. Just mentioned that in case you were thinking of power steering pump bracket . . .

Re: Power steering backet lost?

If the steering box was an integral power steering box, then it was not original to your truck. The steering box adapter plate was an aftermarket piece. The original power steering on these trucks was a power assist style. I sell lots of those power steering box adapter plates, but it will not be like the one you had, as mine are different than the others.

Re: Power steering backet lost?

If I took a pic of the box would that tell you which one it is and what I may need?

Edit: Found one . . . does this help?

Didn't want this to get lost. Any ideas on what I need to buy based on the photo? Thanks again!

The pic you posted is the cradle. Where did this bracket go on the frame?

That does look like a '68-'87 power steering box.

Like I said, I make and sell the steering box adapter plates. Send me a PM if you would like to get one. There is a link to the for sale thread in my signature line \/ \/ \/

Between the box and the frame. It was sandwiched between the two.
