FNG from MN (and challenge!)

Hi all,

I'm Pete, I'm a mechanic and part-time pinstriper

I've been poking around here for quite some time, figure I'd join in on the fun. I've always loved the 67-72 body style. Dropped, lifted, pristine,"patina" they always look good. I needed a truck for parts hauling for my other projects ('27 T modified roadster with chev 250 and 3x1 intake, and a 63 biscayne static slammed otherwise stocker 4dr)

so I recently bought a 72 c25...I'm the 4th owner and its been a MN farm truck for its whole life. "it's a rotten yellow turd" my wife said when I brought it home with no heat on a -13 degree january night. It came home under its own power which nullified her comment at least in my mind.

Here it is...

My challenge is who's driving a uglier 67-72 DAILY?

Re: FNG from MN (and challenge!)

and here's from the next day when i did the heater core...again outdoors in below zero weather with only hand tools and a drop light...

enough ranting more carnage...Here's a lovely bouquet of "old car smell" that I found in the heater box...

There's 4 whole mice in that wad of what was probably insulation, along with 2 heads and three or four limbs that may or may not be from mice--they all tasted like chicken so who knows. There was also one little guy stuck IN the blend door, which inevitably answered why my heat control lever was broken.

Welcome aboard from a little north of you. This would be a good winter to have heat!!! Was that the truck that was on craigslist for awhile?

...Looks like a good start. Yup, the mouse nest is mandatory on these trucks. If it isn't there you got ripped off..... It's always a plus when you can get a purchase home under it's own power, even if you don't have any gonads left when you get there.

Re: FNG from MN (and challenge!)

I worked as a mechanic in Idaho in the mid-1970s. Those are days I don't miss- out in some farmer's field, in the snow, -28F with a wind chill to -60F, welding some damn thing together so he can get the tractor started to do... whatever. Plowing wasn't going to happen! I've used an auger off the back of a tractor to drill fence posts in February, in the same kind of weather. Dirt is like rock at those temperatures, frozen up to three feet down.

Fortunately, my vehicles haven't had mice in the heater.
