First Post! Hello everyone-Brake question

So I've been a member since Feb. 2008 and never made a post, mostly used the site for reference through searching. I finally have a question that I cannot find a solid answer to.

First of all, I have a 1969 C10 LWB.
I have these parts waiting to be installed:

ECE 4/6 drop
CPP swap bars
CPP tubular control arms (all 4)
CPP C notch kit

I am swapping to the 71-72 drag link so i can use those steering components. (also swapping rear axle)

I'm in the market for a full disc brake kit, but I'm somewhat overhelmed by the options. my budget is around $1500.

I really like the CPP big brake kit but ive read negative things about quality.
ECE doesnt make a rear disc kit or i would already have it.

So my question is...with my components, what's your opinion on brake kits??

Re: First Post! Hello everyone-Brake question

I got all my wilwood front/rear disc brake stuff from scottshotrods. I probably have about $1200 in it. That's with drilled/slotted rotors.

Re: First Post! Hello everyone-Brake question

brothers truck parts is having a sale until the end of April , they are sponsors of this board , so in a way have already helped you with your truck
Give them a call , their online catalog is not the best to navigate 800-977-2767

If you do go with the ccp system I will give you a big heads up , I have installed 5 of their systems on various vehicles , generally the components are of good quality , but every one of them had to have washers placed between the booster and master , they do not mention this anywhere in instructions , if you get instructions , which is unlikely , failure to do so will result in brakes that lock as soon as they get hot , or you apply them a few times , easy fix , but like I said they do not mention it

have you driven with this setup yet? how do you like it?

Also, what master cylinder/prop valve are you using?

Ill check out Brother's. Their big brake kits look like a renamed CPP setup though. same description and everything.

Im up the road a little in kansas.
This board is full of people and reference material unmatched anywhere else. Good luck with the suspension.

I'm using the 1 1/8" bore MC and CPP Booster. I'm in the middle of hooking up the prop valve (wildwood 260-8419).
Rotors - front 12" OD x 1 1/4" thick, rear 12" OD x 1" thick
Calipers - front D52, rear D154

I've only drove around the neighborhood so far. How you see my truck in my avatar is how I drove it, so I can't go to far yet. But brakes are working good, I just need to get the prop valve installed. Rear brakes lock up as soon as I touch the pedal. I'm looking forward to lowering the pressure to the rear so I can feel some softer/smoother braking.

The fitting coming from the rear line is 9/16" 18 tpi inverted flare, I need to tie into the prop valve which is 3/8" 24 tpi inverted flare. Once I get this connected, I'll let you know how it works out.

Awesome info! I'm really leaning towards that kit for looks and Wilwood's proven name

The rear disc conversion is one of my favorite upgrades. The calipers showing through the wheels look saaaaweet!!

Re: First Post! Hello everyone-Brake question

I recently found out wilwood and lokar make a cable. I haven't set one up yet.
If you want to follow bennett68c10 build thread, he's running the same set up as me. He may get to the cable before I do.

He talks about it on pg 73 post #1825. I'll try and post a link.

If I remember, their website isn't the greatest. You have to call to get the good stuff. I sent them a message.
