I am changing my suspension from leafs to coils. Do i need to chang the crossmember that the trailing arms hook up to, or us the same one. One is auto, other is 4 sp.?

Re: Leafs to Coils crossmembers
I would guess the cross member is different from a leaf and coil suspension. I actually have an extra coil crossmember if you need one.

Re: Leafs to Coils crossmembers
Actually.... From what I've seen, they are the same (similar).
The difference is the trucks options. Some come w/1pc drivelines & others 2pc. 2pc drivelines will have a carrier bearing bracket attached to the crossmember; 1pc drivelines won't. I know leaf frames have a 'bead' where the front leaf hangers are & coil trucks don't have the same 'bead'. Leaf trucks have shocks mounted in different locations as well. The main x-member that the T/A's attach to are the same regardless of auto or manual. It's just the 1pc or 2pc deal.....

Re: Leafs to Coils crossmembers
I have done this. Things you will need are the mounting brackets for the trailing arms, the shock cross member that also mounts to the spring, the trailing arms and the shock mounts. The cross member that the arms mounts to is the same and can be used, it just needs to have the mounting brackets bolted on to it.
There are photos in my build thread.

Not sure if they'll clear or not but I would leave it in & remove it only if there's interference (an extra x-member isn't a bad thing unless it's in the way). The x-member above the rear housing helps reinforce the frame where the springs mount

Re: Leafs to Coils crossmembers
Yes I did leave it in. Just as Scoti said another cross member cant hurt unless it is in the way and that cross member is far enough back that if there where no springs mounted up and the arms had free range of movement they would actually contact the frame rails and not the cross member in any way.
