Carpet laying question

I am stumped when laying the sound deadener and carpet, should I remove the cardboard firewall pad.It looks like you have to remove the parking brake and the heater box to get it out.All input is appreciated like to keep this project moving along. Thanks so much

Re: Carpet laying question

i tore my old one out because it was going to be replaced anyways.

I am tearing the truck all the way down so i havent got around to installing the new one yet but i have it handy... it looks like you're going to have to remove a gang of **** to get it out without messing it up or putting a new one in. steering column included.

depending on your truck mine had insulation glued to the firewall behind the cardboard...ive been told it was only for customs/cst though

I didn't remove the firewall pad when I replaced mine. If it is a little too long you should be able to just tuck it under the firewall pad. I don't think the sound deadener should go that far up anyway.

Just my 2¢ worth.

Re: Carpet laying question

I just installed my new carpet. It fit behind the A/C duct diverter and over the fire wall pad. I think it came out nice. The pictures are after initial install and has laid down now that has had time to sit.

I didn't either. With all that padding behind it, I'd think that's enough.

Re: Carpet laying question

That should be loop. I also got mine from brothers. With the sound padding they have. And the sound dead material from them. I ripped out all the old stuff but didn't need to remove the card board pads from the firewall although I would like to replace them.

Re: Carpet laying question

I replaced my fire wall pad after I installed new floor pans but everything was out including the steering column. If its in good shape paint what you can see on move on. I also used the ACC carpet after ready a few post on carpet here on the forum. I ordered mine from RockAuto.

Wink Re: Carpet laying question

I just added the sound deadner to mine and slid it under the fire wall padding. Took a puddy knife and pressed it down good. The carpet is old so it layed fine. I just went up to the heater box.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
