84 K10, Battery? Starter? Ignition Switch?

I changed the fuel pump today, after going to start the truck I ran into a couple problems. I couldn't get it to start, I cranked it many times, pumped the gas a bit then all of a sudden nothing.

I'm not sure what happened but it was cranking fine then all of a sudden I got zero response from the ignition. I still had lights and the voltage gauge was reading something close to 11 or 12 volts but no starter reaction. I left it alone for a while thinking I may have overworked the starter but when I came back I noticed turning the key would kill the power in the truck for a few minutes, I noticed this when the dome light cut out and kicked back on after a few minutes. So, did I kill the battery, starter, or is there a short in the ignition switch, and how do I figure out what's wrong?

My truck is stuck in my apartment complex's lot and I can't have a disabled vehicle parked here for too long so I would appreciate any help to get me mobile as soon as possible. Thanks.

Sounds like a bad battery connection. Check for corrosion and being tight.

I did mess with the positive cable in order to get the fuel pump in. I'll check to see if I knocked it loose. Thanks.

Always a good place to start. Which fuse is for the ignition? I don't have an owners manual.

I had the same problem about a month ago. Check your battery cables and also the cables running to and from your starter. Somehow my starter cables developed a bad connection. Good luck

I tried to look but had trouble seeing the cables. Do I need to drop the starter to make sure?

The cables will run right from from the side of the starter. You'll probably have to crawl under neath to get to them. Also check your fuses. The cover should have a diagram showing what fuses go where.

The only fuse box I know of is under the driver's footwell and I didn't see any fuses pertaining to the starter or ignition switch. Is there one under the hood too?
