5.3 mated to TH350
For those of you using a 5.3 LS engine mated to an TH350, how are you hooking up the kickdown cable to the drive-by-cable throttle bodies?
Are there aftermarket kits available? Make your own? If you've done this swap, show us your pics. Thanks! |

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
So far, I have a Street & Performance adapter bracket welded to the throttle, but have not attached the cable to it. The Street & Performance bracket is seriously overpriced - if I did it again, I'd just cut something from sheet metal and weld it on.

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
Isn't the TV system designed for 200/700R transmissions? Pardon my ignorance, as I have exactly zero experience with the 20/700R trans, but it will work on the TH350 platform?
Thanks! |

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
I called them and they claimed it wouldn't work. I think if you could get the throttle half and make your own cable it should, but they were reluctant to sell it that way.

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
Kickdown and TV are different functions, so were clear on that.
The TV has a special bracket and needs to maintain the proper cable with little adjuster-thingy on it. Its a proportional input that helps control line pressure. The th350 just uses the detent/kickdown for like a switch, full kick...or not (wot or not) Adjustment, and bracket position are critical with a 700r4 trying to survive. You can drive a th350 with no detent cable at all.

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
And that's what I'm doing for the time being, but want to get it hooked up soon.

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
keep searchin around, i swear I've seen a set up. Quick n dirty, I'd basically cut the kick-down lever off a quadrajet throttle shaft and tek-screw it to the DBC pulley

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
That and a longer kickdown cable should work pretty well.

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
I used this cable:
http://www.teckpak-fitzall.com/dept.cfm?dpt=2&cat=5 the top one on this page is adjustable, worked great as far as length goes, need to find a solution to connect it to the tb. |

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
I have a cable (Lokar) I'm just curious how other's are hooking it to the drive-by-cable throttle body.

Re: 5.3 mated to TH350
Go to bone yard cut the throttle lever off of a s10 blazer or tpi camaro drill the spot welds match it up to the dbc throttle body and tac weld it in place take a cheaper spectra cable bracket and fab up a mount and use the Lokar cable I have one at home set up like this and it worked flawless for a year or so until I swapped to a 700r4 with bto kick down kit which worked ok but now I'm running a 4l60 which is what I would do runs and drives sweet
