can you fit a wider tire on the 16x6.5" steel wheel?
I know 6 1/2" (what is stamped on the wheel) is thin, so is there any wider tire that I can buy for it? Its 8 lug, and my tires are BFGoodrich commercial E load rated tires. Size 235/85/16. Thanks!

I have PYO's which are the same width.
People regularly run 285/75/16's on them. On mine I have 265/75/16's, and they fit just fine. When my truck hits the streets it will need new tires, and I am thinking of going a size up. |

I have LT255/85R-16E's on my factory steel wheels.

my 04 had the 6.5 wheels i tried to run 265s on it and they wore out in the center. i know 245s wear fine and i think 255s would.

Thanks guys, still looking for pics! Today I went and had the truck aligned, amd all 4 wheels balanced out. Got rid of my vibration. Rides great. But, one of the tires has a hump in it, they think its starting to come apart...they put lots of weight on it and moved it to the back. I've had these tires since new about 3.5 years ago and 35,000 miles and never had them rebalanced or rotated till now. Still good tread.
They recommended I replace the tire asap, before hot summer and towing the boat. But I don't want thes skinny tires anymore. I want wider. Thinking 255 or 265/85/16E.... |

Here's my 87 with a new HD leafs all around and 235/85/16 tires. I intend to replace the tires 265/75/16s sometime this year. I also have a 27 ft camper and with the new leafs the rear goes down about 1/2 inch. I will try to post a pic up
