Thumbs up Ride performance

I have a 1982 k20 chev pu with a 6.2 diesel, can anyone tell me how to improve and soften the ride, if it is possible. I am getting ready to pull all the body parts and replace them. I figure this would be a good time to work on any improvements to the suspension system. Thanks for any help

Re: Ride performance

I am in the same position as you. I have a 74,73, and 79 K20 that I want to have better ride for longer drives. Don't forget what a good seat can do for a quality ride.

From my research GM came out with 3 different spring packs. A 2,3 and 4 leaf pack. Plus a bunch of different ones for the rear. My K20 has 6 stock, but my C20 had 8+6 overload. My C20 needed 2000 pounds in the bed to have a nice ride, and the K20 is pointing to 1500 right now.

When I get my truck running I plan to drive it for a bit to get a good base line measurements. Then I will have have the fronts rebuilt, and heated to soften the ride properly. Plus remove a leaf or two from the rear to soften it, and add air bags to bring capacity back up. My preference is for stiff shocks, and softer springs from my 2wd projects.

If your after a lift you can use 52" springs, and do the fab work cheap enough.

That or you can over heat the credit cards, and do a 4 link.
