What wire is this?
When I was replacing the positive battery cable to the starter I saw a long dangling hose like wire and it seemed to be extremely fried from touching hot pipe. The wire encased in a plastic hose leads in a hole right in front of passenger area of course a couple of wires lead to the carburetor etc but the long wire leads way down near starter in its bottom end.The end of the wire has a fuse box clamp thing..

Re: What wire is this?
So it is right by the passenger frame? Does it go back like along the frame tail to the gas tamk?

Re: What wire is this?
It sounds like one of the fusible links. My truck has two, and I've never sussed where they go, I want to relocate them one of these days.
Can you tell what color the insulation was?

Re: What wire is this?
Like 83 stated and I figure it could be a "fusible link" I suppose ..and i don't know what passenger side frame you state of but it probably is right there. And when you say gas connection I suppose it could be related to gas because one of the few things that don't work on my truck and is a huge hassle is my gas sensor and my gas gauge hasn't read for 3 years I struggle daily with not knowing how much gas is in my damn truck. The mechanic wants to drop the tank and ad a "sensor" whatever that is...

Re: What wire is this?
interesting, does your gas that's work on your truck? And your gas tank sensor stuff?I ask because I have a feeling this could all be related as my truck doesn't!

Re: What wire is this?
This wire is like from the wire harness but it's the longest one that comes out of the passenger dash hole and goes all the way down pretty much a little past the starter area. The wire is encased by a plastic black hose for some reason and the end of the wire is like fuse clamp looking thing thing
