'57 Hood Rockets
As many of you know, the OEM hood rockets and repop'd ones are made of unobtanium. I have been searching for a set for many moons and have found a few, but am unwilling to pay what they go for in auctions. In one of my searches I found an add for a 58 Olds Super 88 hood rocket, it was quite similar and much more affordable. Over the next couple of months, I sourced two of them separately for less than 20 bucks each. The chrome has a few pits, but they look fine for me and my tastes. Anyway, the Oldsmobile part number is: 572272.
The fitment is nearly perfect, all I had to do was radius the bottom slightly at the rear of each one to allow it to sit without a gap.

Re: '57 Hood Rockets
Thank you for the info. I've been wanting a pair of hood rockets too but as you said, they're practically impossible to find. Those Olds rockets look good.

I believe the Olds hood rockets are a great substitute and look amazingly close to the Chevy version... good ideas! Here are mine... -Doug
