try checking the grounds for both lights and fuel guage, if not the ground and the guage and wires are good, probably sender.

Sounds like electrical gremlins which suck @$$ big time. Start by checking your grounds. Check the connections on the battery as well and make sure everything is tight.
I am confused when you said you hit a wrench from the brakes to the frame and it sparked. The brake wires to the frame? How old is the battery? How is the alternator? Do you have an aftermarket stereo in there? I have seen so many of these hooked up wrong that will eventually drain the battery. What else has been done to the electrical system? Trailer wiring, aftermarket fog lights, off road lights, stereo, amps, etc, etc. So many questions for someone who is looking for answers!

Man, I hate electrical problems with a passion.
I don't think this is a ground problem. Sounds more like a dead short to me. First, make sure nothing is using power that you can see, such as clock etc. Remove the positive battery cable. Get a test light and hook one end to the positive battery post, and the other to the positive battery cable. With the truck off, the light should be off. If it's on, you have something using power, of course. Pull a fuse and see if the light goes off. If not, put this fuse back in and pull another. Keep doing this until the light goes off. When/if the light does go off, you found the circuit where the drain is. Then it's just a matter of finding the short. Good luck. Did I mention I hate electrical problems? Oh, and welcome to the board, Andy.
