Side Marker Light Question

I am working on my 69 LWB, taking off trim, bumpers etc. getting it ready for a new paint job. I removed the marker lights a realized they are just reflectors and not actual lights.

Were having lights in them an option for 69?

I was wanting to replace them because they are cracked. I wasn't sure if there is a difference when go to order them.

Thanks

Re: Side Marker Light Question

I'm no expert, so maybe someone else will be positive but every truck I've seen 68-72 has the light, even in the parts catalog it only lists a side marker light, I've never heard of it being just a reflector, my 72 has half reflector and half light as I'm pretty sure a 68-71 would as well

Re: Side Marker Light Question

Putting lights in is real easy and you can have the front ones flash with the signals if you want

The lights were an option in '69. In late '69 trucks from some plants started showing up with lighted side markers installed. In '70 all trucks had them....

Thanks for the information.

KWMECH, I would like to put lights in them. Is there a step by step on the forum that you know of?

Thanks Again

Re: Side Marker Light Question

Easy, buy the marker lamps with the hole in it for the bulb. Get 2 pigtails for the lamp assy. The pigtails I got have black and brown wires. I spliced the brown wires to the purple wire at the turn signal plug. Then I spliced the black wire to the Light blu wire on the drivers side and the dark blu wire on the pass side. To splice the wires I just used scotch locks. I've got side marker lamps on the front that flashes on my '68

Re: Side Marker Light Question

68 were reflectors, 69 could be either. Easy to make it the way you want it to be.
