Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
Well after a rainout and several hours of driving to two different tracks trying to find one without rain I got in 2.1 runs today.
First run was a test run on motor next to no burnout and short shifted just to see if it would go straight, went good, bit of a tweak one way on launch but discovered last week my back springs are NFG, ordered a new better set but didn't show up in time. Temp was very cool and humid AFR replay showed maybe a tad rich N/A, strange as it's usually on even warmer days. Second run I decided to go a bottle pass as was not sure how many test and tune runs I'd get with a double points day making up for rained out previous day. Spun a very little bit and surged a tad on the big end AFR replay showed a bit lean on bottle with new tune I just put in. BUT ran my fastest ever 10.25 @ 128.73 and a 1.408 60' I was like WOW didn't even feel like that fast of a run. Third run I fattened it up a bit, it launched REAL hard no spin, and snapped my transmission yoke clean off I'm sure with the cool temp and the way it bit it would have been in the 10.1XX's. Now just hope I can get the parts in and installed by next weekend as points races at my regular track. Another thanks to forum member Drag80 (can't remember his real name, want to say Jeff but I suck at remembering names, sorry Drag80), he got me a pull back to my trailer from his dad, who was being called to the staging lanes at the time, so a thanks to him also, plus they arranged for some muscle to get it pushed straight enough to winch it into my trailer.

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
Thanks, before that best on paper was a 10.61, I'm sure I would have been in the 10.5xx various times letting off at the end bracket racing, but it was a nice to see a time in the low 10's for once. Sure made busted parts less painful that's for sure, just wish it would have lasted one more run to see how it would have like a bit more fuel.

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
Well a bit more damage then first thought, but still not too bad as long as this is it.
Ordered stronger parts so guess time will sort out the next weak link, I'm calling transmission related.

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
That is a nice truck weight, yours well...So what track do you run at, once a year we cruise down to Saskatoon for their cruise weekend and go to the track on Saturday for most of the day and evening. Already booked in for this Aug 22nd to 24th, even bought tickets for the 3 day old bands concert by the river, fun as always.

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
I usually run at SIR in Saskatoon, I try to make it when i can and work allows, I have a membership, but rarely make enough races to be in the point running.
If I make it to the Aug weekend races stop by in the pits and say hello.

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
I will be looking for the truck for sure and if your there will stop by. Supporting Petro Canada by driving my big block beast of a 4x4 down, just like last year. Think the gas stations just smile when they see me pull in. Gotta drive it though. Well hope you make it, will be at SIR on Saturday.

Got this one in my in my pickup. Granted my 1.67-69 60' isn't nearly yours. But has survived some wild wheel hop episodes trying to get it right. Like bed up by the back window violence

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
This is the only one I could find quick and get shipped today to try and have it in time for the weekend, would have preferred the Moser, but only has to last a year as planning on putting together a TH400 over the winter and will need a different yoke again for it, only have a built TH350 right now, but have to admit it has been hanging in there like a champ, (knock on wood).

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
Dang thats better than 1.2 runs but the carnage still ruins a day. On the other hand I have Used Mark Williams trans yoke and pinion yoke for years. Those stockers just arent designed for that abuse. Congrats on your new best though!

Re: Got 2.1 runs in with new setup
71dragtruck, it was good to meet you. Too bad things had to let loose like that, probably would of been a good run. It's Jarett by the way, and no worries on remembering my name, I'm terrible too when it comes to names.

I'll be back for sure, I really like racing at the Hat, very nice track, main reason I go to Stoon is the guys I know go there, I though it was very cool of Dave when I called after getting rained out in Swift to say yeah no problem with getting in 4 test passes, especially when you guys were cramming in Sat rain out on sunday also and only 1 qualifying run. I honestly don't think the track I'm a member of would have been that accommodating on a day with that much going on, so yeah class act you guys got going on for sure.

It sure don't take a lot of weight loss to make it faster.

It has the means to make more power, I'm only legal to run 10.00, so right now just want a 10.1x to 10.2x tune until I finish off my cage and get it certified, besides my converter is a bit too loose for more nitrous right now, and need to swap to a pro gear also. I'll just be happy if it gets through the season with no more breakage, or damn rain outs!!

Nice pic of the truck pulling air, see what you mean. Nice time for the weight of a truck.
