I`m looking at a 59 short fleet truck. it has a clean bed with the gate and emblems. a corvette 327 (they all are) with double hump heads. the trans is a saginaw 4 spd. it hasn`t ran in years. all the front sheet metal and cab is very rusty. is it worth $1500 ?

yup, bed in good condition goes for around 1K. i would jump on it if it were out here.

If the bed has the good rocket trim its a bonus. Quick motor vin code or block casting number check will let you know if its a real vette motor, if it could be worth something to the original car owner or one of same year looking for an original replacement. Same with the 4 speed... In 1969 I got a vette 365 hp 327 for $75 from a wrecking yard. bought a Muncie m21 for $50 and olds rear end for $25. Put them in my $40 wrecking yard 57 chevy 210 sedan and had an instant street racer....Of course minimum wage was $1.60 an hour then too....

I`m pretty sure that RB is the code on the front of the engine. it has a 283 type balancer on it. when I look up the code in my Hollander it shows it to be a 6 cyl. I`m going back to look, and maybe buy it tomorrow. pictures coming soon.

I randomly search "apache" on CL every once in a while, checked it today and there were a lot on there in GA. Saw a couple fleetsides. btw I paid close to that for my rusty stepside with no useable drivetrain

LSXapache- I see your from Eastman. I just finished a job not to far from you. it is the durst bread / tasty cake distribution center on the corner of 441 and Springhaven rd. just south of Dublin.

Yeah just right up the road from me, I've passed it several times. I don't know if you're into the 4x4/mud scene at all but the guys across the road at B&S industrial keep a few cool toys around their shop.

My books shows RB as a 64 Corvette 327 HP Manual Trans

that would explain the funny looking aluminum 4 spd trans behind it. It has so much grease on it i thought it was a Saginaw.

the spark plugs are setting in the battery tray. the engine may be froze
looks like a 283 balancer to me.

I would get it because of that Factory Carpet Option too! and it looks like that Wall To Wall, Door to Door Option also! Very Very Rare Option!!!! LOL I think that would make a Nice project and i would love to see another four eyed truck saved!

That factory carpet about made me **** myself! Love this truck, the price is right and it looks to be in great shape. Is that a deluxe heater I can't quite tell from that last picture?

Deluxe heater, six cylinder hood trim. Number on block looks corvettish but valve covers are definately not. The engines came with three different carbs or fuel injection. WCFB on lowest HP, AFB midrange and Holley on HP, that looks like a WCFB.
