90 front xmember swap on my 68

Haven't installed yet.

Need to piece new bushings and calipers, BUT THE SPRINGS...


I cannot use 67-72 springs correct?? They are 1.25 rotors, not going to get a drop spindle...unless its cheaper than buying new springs... but i want an inch gap from my 15 inch ralllies....to the fender....

A 90 model is a GMT400 truck which is drastically different than the square body truck donors commonly used. What are you trying to do here ?

After the 87 model year [the newer 88to 98 body style]the front cross member to those trucks were welded in the frames as a part of the frame. They DID NOT unbolt like the cross members of past truck years. There was talk and rumbles on here about being able to use some of those parts to put all factory parts on the truck and run 6 lug disc brakes and the ones that did it never were able to line their truck up and I think they had to abandon that plan and drop back and punt as we sometimes do when we are flying seat of the pants like that. Well Elf didn't say what kind of 90 model he was talking about. I suppose it could be a Suburban. They didn't change until 91 or 92 I think.
But as far as the 1/2 ton pickups 87 was the last year you could use to swap x member and all.

Baahhh just got internet, yes its a burb, 1500 hd brakes, front end components all look the same as an 88 or what not, i am aware the ps box is better ratio..correct?? But as far AS SPRING...I CANNOT JUST THROW ON SOME 3INCH DROP SPRINGS FOR A 72 ....right? I have to buy the 90 ish stuff?? Or 73-87? I mean they look exactly the same!!

All of those springs will interchange.

Throw me a bone the best way to tell me is the cross member welded to the frame or does it bolt in? Is the truck a flat nose front grille or does it have a rounded front?It is true the the Rand V series of trucks stayed with the square body style [and frame and all of it components]until the end of the 90 model year, while the C and K were revised in the 1988 model year. The Suburban and for some unknown reason the Dually and heavy duty type trucks stayed behind the curve on the styling upgrades. Maybe it was because they knew they would have a hard time keeping pace building all that the public would demand in the newer style. Jim
