Help identifying air conditioner compressor

This compressor is seized and I want to replace it with a chrome bodied one.

I know nothing about these units and I can't find any identifying markings.

Can anyone help?

I think the same, 12 o'clock... looks like you have the serpentine system set up. Did you order springs yet?

I think you are going to have a hard time finding one of these in chrome.

they don't make those in chrome but they make chrome covers for them

Yes, serpentine belt.

As for springs, I have them sitting in the garage but now that the truck doesn't scrape, raising the front has become a lower priority. Last year it sat in the driveway. This year after raising the rear (which helped the front), we are driving it almost every day.

I'll be doing control arm bushings while I am in there and that sounds like work, so am stalling on that for a few weeks.

My three higher priority jobs are:
1) Adding relays so that the windows work better
2) Adding a retro Sound stereo head unit (and fixing the cut dash panel where it will sit)
3) fixing the air conditioning

As for the air conditioner compressor
I don't know what I can mix and match but I had found these two polished aluminum units. A little bit more pricey but very shiny :-)

It would be nice to know if they are plug and play...?

Well the first one is a "V" belt so it won't work. But might with the right pulley. There is a conversion kit need to run this on a serp. system. You will most likely need new hoses made to run it as well but one of the most popular swaps.
Second one I am not sure.

I suppose I should also figure out why the compressor seized before I just throw more parts at it.

There is evidence that something bad happened because the compressor bracket has been cracked and welded. I Found this video and I also found a reference on the vintage air web side cautioning that a cutout switch should be used in case pressure gets too high. I'm not sure that I have one.

Yeah- Switches are used in newer A/C systems. You can hear the "cycling" of the compressor turning on and off as it builds pressure and shuts off. Watch some you tube vids on it. I think When I get mine going I will be putting one in. I have the same serp system and will be putting a Sanden on mine for sure.
Switches are also used for triggering auxiliary fan setups for your condenser.

You should have a switch on your dryer, I just rebuilt my entire AC system. I did a lot of research, plus I bought an $8 DVD that had good instructions.

Ditch the compressor for a Saden!! You can keep the same connections too!!

I see that Saden compressors are available in polished aluminum!

...but then I probably have to replace the mounting bracket and mess with figuring out the serpentine belt setup again. Maybe its easy.

Anyone have experience with that?
