As mentioned above there are hundreds of argumentative threads about preferences and results on this subject but from my research and history both are good products that work, Old Air has WAY WAY WAY better customer service and if Im not mistaken old air comes with the hoses pre made to the correct length where Vintage are universal and have to be made. That may not be the case now but it was a few years ago.
The only complaints I have ever heard about Vintage is the terrible customer service and the hoses. As usual this is one persons opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

I just did a Vintage Air "sure fit" kit. It was indeed a sure fit and the customer service and tech support was great. But here's something to think about. The price of the kit is a known factor. What is an unknown factor is the probable need a beefier radiator and fan, perhaps upgrades to the controls, and the definite need of different pullies, new belts, antifreeze, maybe some odds n ends like spray paint, maybe a new engine temp guage, a likely trip to the shop to charge it up, and dont overlook any shipping and handling, plus taxes too. A 1700 dollar kit can hit 25 hundred really fast.

I put an Old Air Products system in mine. The features that I liked are that it uses your stock heater control panel for the controls, rather that a separate unit that needs to be mounted somewhere. Cleaner in my opinion. Also, it only takes a couple inches off the back of the glove compartment, where V/A takes pretty much all of the space. Not much storage in these trucks to start with, so any place you can keep stuff is a bonus. Good customer support also. I had a switch wired incorrectly in the kit, it had 3 wires to it, 2 black, one with a blue stripe. One of those two black wires was supposed to be blue. Switched them around and it worked perfectly. The tech guy and I figured it out over the phone, not an easy thing to diagnose an electrical problem over the phone. It took 2 or 3 calls, and he was very patient and helpful. I have one complaint though, at first it will get plenty cold 40F, and when the engine gets warm, not as cold. I don't know if the door inside the unit doesn't quite seal from hot side and cold side, or the hot coolant isn't being closed off completely. I am going to put a ball valve on the hot line and stop the hot coolant from flowing through, should be ok then. I plan on calling the tech guys about that one. One last complaint is I wish the fan blew slower on the low position. Under light load it is blowing too hard. I don't know much about Vintage Air's unit, but I am basically happy with the Old Air in my truck.

The real cold to not so cold thing might be that your evaporator isn't draining well enough, my vintage AC did that also and the drain hose was kinked . The evaporator would ice up. My Vintage AC fan goes from o to hurricane, love it. |

My Old Air system years ago had so many problems it went in the garbage. Earlier this year I installed the Vintage Air under dash knee freezer model and it works perfectly.

For '64-'66 trucks, the Vintage Air Sure Fit is compatible with the deluxe 3 lever factory control. If you have the factory push/pull thrift air control, it comes with three rubbery (import car looking) knobs in the kit or you can source a deluxe control on your own. You can also choose to upgrade the knobs to something more attractive.
