Question What's a 1973 - 1987 C10 1/2 ton rear end going for

What's a 1973 - 1987 C10 1/2 ton rear end going for?

I have a 1985 C20, more specifically a C2500, with an 8-lug, 14-bolt f.f. rear with 4.10 rear gears that I plan on swapping out with a 5-lug rear end. I like the rear I have now. No leaks, look and works great, and pulls like a hos but It's an 8-lug and I'm in process of installing a full Porterbuilt suspension. I want to go to 5-lug for a wider array of wheel options.

Thanks,
G

$100.
Oh, did you want to pick the gear ratio? Posi or gov-lock? newer axles?
$200 for 3.08 open, 20K rebuild. $800-1200 for fresh rebuild with a posi, your core axle. FYI, the posi and gear and install kit is right around $700, fortunately axle bearings and seals are cheap, axles aren't too bad ($150-300 depending on what you want).
Watch CL. I have found no one wants to advertise the 3.08 non-posi axles. Local yards go $150, you pull.

$50-200 depending on the ratio & if it's a 10-bolt or 12-bolt housing would prob be the CL norm. I sold a bare 12-bolt housing last year to a board member for $75. I've also seen them listed @ 2K by the CL dreamers....

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
