New engine is in the Bonanza
Had Ray at United Auto drop in a 99 Vortec. It's bored, stroked and balanced with GM Performance aluminum heads. Here's the update he posted yesterday on Instagram. I'm a little excited

Yeah that sounds about right. I won't get it home until July 17.... I hope to get a couple months with it on the road.

Re: New engine is in the Bonanza
Just enough time to test and tune.
I mentioned Aug 3rd because when I lived in Alberta the standard joke was we had two seasons. Summer and winter. Summer was on Aug 2nd at noon. Rest of the year was winter. You got any specs on that motor? |

Re: New engine is in the Bonanza
I guess with that motor combo you'll be running lots of initial timing. In the order of 22 to 24 degrees. Put 10 in the dizzy and add another ten with the vacuum pot.
Those electric h20 pumps aren't the best for normal running. They're more suited to quarter mile. Any idea what your timing curve is? I hear a tip in stumble when you wack the throittle. |

Yeah the elec water pump was pulled for a mechanical one.
I don't know what timing is set at. I haven't seen the truck since May 21. |

Re: New engine is in the Bonanza
Please provide more info on the heads - my GMPP dealer says there's no such animal as a GM produced aluminum Vortec head. Maybe they're Fastburn?

Re: New engine is in the Bonanza
Please do, that's something I'd sure be interested in using if GM really makes 'em!
