Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
Funny thing is I am pretty sure we dipped our pliers handles in this stuff for our first Ag/shop project, 20 years ago. Now people are spraying everything under the sun. Looks like they have several ways to customize the colors with metalizers, pearlizers, smoke tints.
I plan to try this on my next set of rims. What have you done? Not mine! |

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
I'm interested too. Dipyourcar.com has a bunch of videos. That's the manufacturer's website, so I'm not going to put a lot of stock into the validity of their sales pitch. I would like to see how it works in real life. I'm thinking about doing my wheels in the camo tan from the rattle can. They say it peels right off. I guess if I don't like it, I can take it off.

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
Don't have any good pictures. But I plasti dipped the center caps on my '07 silverado's aftermarket wheels because they are plastic and chrome coating was peeling off, sanded them down and rattle canned them.
A year later and they are all holding up wonderfully. I can't vouch for the peeling off if you desire removal aspect, but the durability of the product is certainly there. |

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
Ive done my hardtop and wheels on my CJ. I also dipped my cousins wheels on his Cadillac CTS. My most recent was a RC body.
Easy stuff to work with and its amazing how tough it is and then how easy it peels.

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
I had no idea it came in colors like, "pearl charcoal".
In the original photo with the lime wheels it's the charcoal which I thought was a fancy name for flat black, but in the second photo after you say you peeled the fenders they look black and the body looks much more gray, have I got that right? Where could I go to find a color chart for Plastidip? Don't tell me, there's a site called Plastidip.com?!

I have to look into plasti-dip... I had no idea you could do so much with it. Was it rattle-can sprayed or is there a spray gun or a gun tip for plasti-dip?

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
I was thinking about doing the dash in my 58 GMC with it. What's the durability like?

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
I've had it on the grill of my car for about 3 years now. Not a single chip, or scratch, and the grill has wide bars across it.

Re: Plasti Dip, lets see your projects!!!
I went over to http://www.dipyourcar.com/ and was really impressed with the uses for the product. I think it will work well for some interior accents like dash pad, door panels and trim. I'm painting my '58 bright red and think the black plastidip will be a cool combo.
