Interested in Shipping a set of Tires & Wheels

Interested in shipping a set of Tires and wheels (used). Anybody have any suggestions on how to best do this without paying an arm and a leg? Kentucky to California.
Any input is appreciated.

Re: Interested in Shipping a set of Tires & Wheels

I have shipped wheels through fed ex reasonably...I imagine tires being mounted to them would drive the cost up significantly.

Re: Interested in Shipping a set of Tires & Wheels

I bought a set of new takeoff wheels and tires from a dealer in Phoenix about 8 years ago. They put them on a pallet and sent them to Wisconsin via a LTL (less than truckload) freight company. I had to pick them up at the company's terminal. As I recall, the cost wasn't too bad.

Fastenal, they ship on excess space on their supply trucks. Shipped my half top for my Jimmy from Nebraska to LA and it was one forth of the price of the cheapest LTL carrier.

Greyhound freight. Bus terminal to terminal. Don't be in a hurry.

Jeh,
How did you ship them? On a pallet and dropped off at a UPS Freight? Or just a UPS store ?

Thanks,
