Seat belts????
Ok so I'm getting my carpet for my 65 from stockinteriors.com and I'm wondering who you all would recommend for seat belts? I need the push button type because my daughter will have one on her car seat. I also need a custom
Length for the center because of the console. Also need a close color to the carpet from stockinteriors (doeskin tan) #8295. I've looked at autoloc to see if they hove something and they do but didn't know if anyone had any other ideas. Thx

Re: Seat belts????
Could try these guys, I've been looking at ordering some belts from them. They do stock replacements for 67-72 trucks but I'm sure they could help.

Re: Seat belts????
No not yet. My truck already has belts fitted but I have to replace them so they meet the Legal standards in Australia. This company is one of the only US manufacturers that make belts that meet Australian Standards. There products are mainly used in 60's Mustangs and Camaros here but they come highly recommended.

Re: Seat belts????
I bought mine from Morris! Great quality, perfect colour match (tan), reasonable price. Comes with all the hardware you need.

Re: Seat belts????
I used "Juliano's" Seatbeltstore.com) for my 66 C10. Great color selection and nice fit. I did install the shoulder harness kit (P/N JUOLL305). Kit comes with all required installation hardware and brackets for the "B" piller installation.. Your 65 won't have the piller nuts installed most likely (66 they were installed from the factory) so you'll need to do some welding..... Good luck!

Re: Seat belts????
AFAIK/IIRC only some '66 trucks actually had them installed (IIRC all mine don't).

Re: Seat belts????
Here are some pictures. I thinks your carpet is rather brownish. My seat bells are have a strong silver tone. I don't think this will match...

Re: Seat belts????
I added belts to my '60 as well. I've been in a bad accident and I feel the belt saved me from serious injury if not my life, been using them ever since. On the 1960 GMC truck models, there were 2 point non-retractible style.
In the 1960 GM installation catalog they show a neat pic of using a coat hooks to hang your belt from to keep it off the ground (fig. 9). I ordered and installed a set. I've already had someone tell me that was not "FACTORY", then I show him the catalog, then I usually get - "Well ain't that somthing?" If I go in contest, I'll probally have to hang a note telling the judges it was a factory option so not to be dinged on points.

Re: Seat belts????
Seat belts were not (US)federally required until late 1968 model year ( legislation was passed in late 67 I believe) in trucks, however, they were options from the 50's. most folks opted to forgo them since they were farm trucks and rarely went over 40mph.

People weren't really afraid of the pedal on the right back in the 60's; in the '68 car owners manual I pulled up for my Impala, it says hot tire pressure is measured after driving 10 miles @ 60-70MPH, and that "high speed operation" is over 75MPH. The '67 truck book said the same 60-70MPH number for hot pressure, but didn't specify what "high speed" was. The '69 book had the same 75MPH number as "high speed". The '61 truck manual said "It is recommended that the maximum speed be confined to 50 miles per hour for the first 500 miles", and that was a book also covering 2-ton trucks (the '68-'69 book called for 60MPH). (I don't have my '65 owners manual with me to check, but IIRC it says the same thing.) |

Re: Seat belts????
just in case it is not clear. My seat belts are not original. I had a mounting plate welded before painting the inside of the cab... That is why it is hang in from the side.
