48-54 (55) speaker brackets

Hey fellas, in the process of designing cab corner speaker brackets for the 48-54 GM trucks. Like the 67-72 and 73-87 brackets I sell, these too will be made of heavy 16 ga steel, and will fit nicely into the cab corners of these trucks (with gas tank relocated) No progress pics to post, but price should be in line with the other model brackets I sell ($65-75 shipped).

Link in my signature to the current brackets I offer, please take a look at the quality and feedback I have received.

if you are interested, please respond here. Thanks everyone!

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

I would be very interested. Finding a good way too mount some speakers in an out of the way location is something that is still on my to-do list for my build. I've seen your 67-72 brackets and thought 'I wish he made something like that for my truck!'

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

I will have more to report this weekend if all goes well. More than likely, they won't work with the in cab tanks...but we'll see.

Until I get to the shop where the '52 is at...can anyone post a picture of the inside corners of a cab with the tank in place?

I'd go for a set for a 59 if that's on your radar soon.

55-59 are next up, I just need to locate a cab for design and development of them.

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

Depending on how fast the shop can laser cut the test set of brackets, the soonest I will have installed pics to show will be mid to late September.

There is enough interest here, I will definately be making these...please be patient and I will have pics as quickly as they are done.

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

Ok guys, completed the cardboard/foam core design of the speaker brackets...transferred it to CAD, and sent to the shop to have a set laser cut. As soon as I get the prototype, I'll bend them up and post pictures.

QUESTION FOR THOSE INTERESTED

I designed these with the factory seat riser frame in place. How do most truck owners address this when late model seats are put in place of the factory bench? Are the rear and side/front pieces removed, only side and front...or ?

Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

Thanks all.

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

Ive only seen the side & front risers removed. It would seem that the rear one between the b pillars is structural. I removed my front & side risers when I put in a new bench seat. It's thru bolted to the floor
When you have the mounts made up I want a set

Perfect, thanks for the response. The bracket..as of today, is designed with the rear riser in place.

I am hoping the shop can cut the prototype quick...we'll see.

Ok, prototype made, all bent up and ready to go in for test fitting. I'll be heading to my friends house tomorrow night or Saturday for mock up. Until then, here is a picture of the prototype bracket.

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

You can see in the last pic how much wider these are than the 67-72 brackets seen in the background...and the quote I received from the shop to cut these reflected. It is looking like these will be around $80 shipped to anywhere in the lower 48...but I will see if I can't get that down just a little.

If the proto fits as well as it should, these will fit in the corners very nicely and give the corners a nice finished look.

And to be clear, these will only work in trucks with a relocated gas tanks. They will however work perfectly with the factory bench or aftermarket seats.

Working in it.

The test fit session didn't go as well as I had planned, I had to make some slight modifications, and have already modified the cad plans. Ordering a L and R set tomorrow from the shop, as soon as they are done, they will be test fitted, photographed, and sold to a board member at a discounted rate so they can be tested on one more truck.

These trucks are old, beat up, and likely were built with varying tolerances. I found this out on the proto. I mocked everything up on the right cab corner, bent the steel prototype to fit on the left cab corner...and there are slight differences from side to side...which I am trying to account for.

For the record guys, I do NOT own a 47-54 so it takes a little longer for report back progress...just trying to help those out who have been asking for these brackets...please be patient as I iron out the details on these and get these to fit as well as possible. I promise you won't be disappointed.

My '51 is almost ready for paint on the inside back of the cab - I too am interested in seeing how they fit.

Re: 48-54 (55) speaker brackets

Ok, great news...speaker brackets are complete, just about ready to pull the trigger on production! Below are the pictures of the prototype set. I will be offering the brackets blank (as shown), or with the 6x9 opening cut out. These fit great as-is, but if you cut the little tab off the bottom back side of the B pillar (as shown in the photo below), they will tuck up even tighter in the corner.

These brackets are the best fitting set of the three truck styles I sell, they also work the best with the rounded corners and curves of these trucks.

Price in these brackets, shipped to anywhere in the lower 48 States, will be $85. I know that is $10 more than the 67-72 brackets, but these are much larger, will cost more to ship, and are still made of heavy 16ga metal like the others I sell. I refuse to skimp on quality just to bring cost down, and offer a sub par product.

For the next week, thru 9/26, I am offering these at the introductory rate of $70. I will be placing my order to have a run cut of these, and will ship them out as soon as I get them back from the shop, which should be 7-10 days.

Please pm me if you are interested.
