65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

Ok guys need some advice I have bought a c10 that had springs heated to lower has P255/70R15 tires. Now problem is my left rear tire is scrubbing the front part of the bed. The right side of the truck has LOTS of clearance. I've removed all wood from the bed due to someone half way installing it all and they also used plywood in it. So all that is removed so I could see if bed was installed incorrectly. I'm not one to half way do anything and this is driving me crazy it only scrubs with the truck is unlevel or going thru a sharp curve like. Any help would be much appreciated. We've had multiple c10s dad says he's had a few 64-66 that the gap was always a little different but never this bad.

Re: 65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

you have the springs heated and the pan hard bar is moving the rear closer tto the one side.

My suggestion is get rid of those heated springs, buy you some drop springs and an adjustable pan hard bar.

Problem solved for under $150.

New springs and adjustable panhard bar. The Lower you go the more the trailing arms push the axle up and to the front of the bed. I learned that the block could help some of this dropping the arms down for less push forward.

I think your right, but an adjustable panhard bar should correct it. I had a similar issue before I got a tire rub.

Re: 65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

Ok I haven't been able to get any pictures yet. Sorry. But if y'all believe the pan hard bar will be a good first thing to try then what do y'all recommend cpp adjustable deluxe bar or early classic bar? I'm fairly new at this but would like to do it correct first time around. And would like to do parts that will allow me to lower more in future either static or bagged. Or are there any other brands yall would suggest? I will be doing all install myself so trying to keep it fabrication free. I know springs are needed also but like stated before I'm planing to bag hopefully in future and a cnotch but trying to do small steps at a time. And trying to acquire some white walls also.

I've never tried this, but could you just space the left trailing arm backwards/longer (at front where it bolts up), temporarily, to move the left end of the differential backwards? Easily reversed when you bag it.

Just reading, it sounds like rear end has been 'twisted'. A quick verification would be to measure the wheelbase on each side and compare.

We've tried that but every way we can measure the wheelbase it's very close from side to side. Cause that was my first option.

I have a adjustable bar I took off and stock 62 mount. If I remember right it is 33.5 eye to eye.

Re: 65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

any play in the trailing arm mounts? I had one parts truck that the rivets for those mounts were pulled and it just took some new bolts and a lot of swearing.

Re: 65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

put it up on a lift and look at the TA mounts on the crossmember. Mine were TOTALLY obvious that a problem existed.

Re: 65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

if its scrubbing the left side its not your track bar unless it was over shortened the track bar moves the differential forward or backward very very little I would measure from a given point on the front of the frame to the differential on each side

Re: 65 C10 tire scrubbing HELP???

Reference off the frame rails and measure to the wheel rim on each side. If you see it's tighter on the pass. side then you need an adjustable (shorter) track bar.
