Question 63 c30 question about the drive shaft support bearing

I have a c30 that was cut down from a long bed to a short bed, in the process the PO cut the support bearing brace, what I need to know is if I put the brace back and install the bearing at the original height will this affect the the drive shaft I know that it will increase the angle of the shaft at the rear wheels will this hurt the drive shaft ujoint?

Re: 63 c30 question about the drive shaft support bearing

If I had a short bed that needed driveshaft work, I would get a one piece shaft for it. You can grab a junkyard shaft and any competent driveline shop can shorten it and put the correct yokes on it. My local shop can even do aluminum.

Definitely go the much easier route and put a one piece driveshaft in. You will save yourself a lot of headaches.

Re: 63 c30 question about the drive shaft support bearing

update I figured out that this truck used to be a long bed and was cut to a short bed that is the reason the center support bearing is jerry ridged. so I think you all are right and now Iam in search of a place here locally to shorten up a one piece drive shaft that I have. And I will be changing out the 4 speed to an automatic.
