Bed question

When I push down on the bed, or sit on the tailgate, my bed wood moves up and down. This can't be normal surely?

Is the wood attached to the bed and then the whole lot bolted to the chassis rails, or am I mistaken?

Re: Bed question

No it is not normal.

Yes that is how it should bolt down.

There should be 8 bolts (if it is a short bed step side) going through the the top of the wood and bolt to brackets that are riveted to the frame. I wold make sure those are all tightened down. That is where I would start. Some pictures might help.

Re: Bed question

Thanks. I'll get it stripped apart and get some pictures taken so we can see what's what.

might be missing a cross sill at the back that supports the wood...

Re: Bed question

I wouldn't strip it apart if you don't need to. You probably can just root around underneath to see if anything is loose.

Re: Bed question

I agree. Get underneath it, and you'll know right away what the issue is.
