Full quarter panels
Anybody seen these yet in person? Just saw them in the new LMC catalog and GMC Paul's has them too. Would be a godsend for us in the Rust Belt if they're any good.

Re: Full quarter panels
We started fitting a set from So Ky Classics last week. Sorry for the quality of the pic. They're definitely very workable...but they cut into my tailgate budget as you can see. The girl's gonna have a St. Louis face and a Taiwan booty. They're back off again as we finalize the floor repair. I'll keep you posted and eventually start a build thread. If you decide to get them...definitely hit em up at a swap meet. I could have probably gotten a great cash deal on them at a meet last year, but I thought I was going to be able to repair what I had or come up with original repair panels.

They're about three hours away from me, so my plan is to get a shopping list and just drive over there with some cash when the time comes. |

Thanks for the pic, they look pretty good. GMC Paul's is only an hour and a half from me, probably head over there soon with a truck and shopping list!

Re: Full quarter panels
I think Dave is right. It's kind of a crap shoot. I chased stuff locally, on Craigslist and on the board...trying really hard to stay away from reproduction sheet metal and still I ended up with a lot. It came from different suppliers: Year One, LMC, So Ky Classics, AMD among others...Everything from lower A-pillar, to cab supports, rockers, rocker boxes, floor boards, rear deck, door skins and door bottoms. Some were decent, all workable...none flawless by any means. But honestly, the bedsides were the best of the bunch. They were complete and pretty much hit the marks on my truck.

Re: Full quarter panels
Hi all, I've been contemplating these So Ky Classic bedsides for my future K5 build, to anyone with the knowledge, how does the thickness of the steel compare with our original sheet metal?

Re: Full quarter panels
I think I will buy my self some for Christmas. I hope they fit well. Mine are smashed so it can't be any worse.
Besides- I think the "Taiwan Booty" comment may have sold me on them.LOL

Re: Full quarter panels
i purchased a set through ece but have not put them on. took them out of the box to inspect and they look nice.
what i like is that they have the stamped door jamb already there so the install looks pretty simple. bad side is you have to buy in pairs which was ok for me because i needed both anyway. for the price of 2 shortbed fleetside panels + the labor to cut , fit, and install, i would by the blazer sides.

Re: Full quarter panels
I bought a 62 Chev PU with a complete, fairly rust free cab with doors and bed just to have original metal to repair the floors and rockers on my 72 Blazer.
I've read from so many people here that dont like the Taiwanese crap that I decided to do it this way. By the time I'm finished removing the cab, flipping it, cutting out wht I need and doing all that's necessary to fix mine, I may regret not having just bought the Asian stuff! I do have to say I probably wouldnt be doing all this if it wasnt for this sight and all of you.

Re: Full quarter panels
For anybody in the MID-WEST, MN, ND, SD, WI, IA, IL, NE I keep the Blazer bedsides in stock as well as many other 67-72 parts. I can also drop ship from Kentucky. The announcement for the new Blazer panels came out last week. I will have these on my next order as well. Kevin at Bowtie Truck Stop.

Is that a wood floor in a Blazer Bed?

Re: Full quarter panels
That is a wood bed floor in a Jimmy. Frank had the bed wood kit left over from a SB/FS that was sold before completion. He loved the fit and quality of the new bedsides and I have to say I love the look of his Jimmy. This should be the link to my FB album on this project. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...4119777&type=3
