Tailgate for k5 blazer color / finish Q.

I have decided to go back to a tailgate with integral window - the heavy one - on the 75, and I was wondering what variety there is out there in terms of the way these look. I'm not 100% sure i necessarily want the silver band across the back but i haven't seen anything else really - who do other people have on their tailgate? Are they painted like the truck body but with an emblem stuck on it? do they have the side bar wrapped round the back also?? pics welcome i'm really looking for ideas on this.

Side question, why go back? Are you not putting the safari top on now?

Re: Tailgate for k5 blazer color / finish Q.

I don't know if the older models are similar to the newer ones (89, mine), but the two curved rods in the bottom need to be entacked, connected and not broken. I had one broken on mine and the tailgate was pretty heavy opening and closing. Once I replaced the entire tailgate with new rods, that helped with the weight, quite a bit. I was actually surprised how much weight it took off to open and close.

If it applies for you, just make sure they are working properly.

Re: Tailgate for k5 blazer color / finish Q.

Bruiser. I actually bought the LAST white softtopper for the Gen 2 blazer (they've stopped making them in white). My wife is not overly happy with the truck but she did say she' like it to be original if I'm spending so much money on it. So it was in my mind and the next day i stumbled across a complete and non rusted tailgate with window etc so i figure I could get the best of both worlds by having the soft top available but first restoring to original to keep the wife more on side. First time we go out in it with top off and the weather changes while we are out I can provide the Softtop as the solution - Taadaaa!
